Bethany, this was such an insightful and practical post. As a former teacher, I wish I had understood temperament this clearly when I was in the classroom. I especially appreciated your reminder that behavior we find challenging may actually be a strength that has not yet learned its boundaries. “Notice It. Name It. Nurture It.” offers such a compassionate way to look beneath a child’s behavior, while still maintaining expectations and teaching the skills they need. Every student wants to feel understood, and your Golden Words give teachers such helpful ways to communicate that they are truly seen and valued.

Wow, Ally! Your words have blessed me so much today. First of all, thank you for your many years of service in the lives of so many children. (The acknowledgments section of my forthcoming teacher’s book is quite long, and it includes the teachers who have so beautifully influenced my life. You, teachers, are real superheroes!) Second, I’m humbled that this resonates with you, and I hope it will bless and inspire other teachers, too! My “Notice It. Name It. Nurture It.” framework is new—just three years old—so I also appreciate your reflections on its value as I continue to share it with families and teachers. Be blessed!
